TEXTILE Fibre Forum magazine holds a special place in my heart, and I feel honoured to now be a contributor to it. In the very early years of my creative career, it was a much-anticipated arrival in the letterbox or at the newsagent, and I would read every page in order – including the advertisements. There was no other way then to find out about workshops and suppliers, and every word was vital information. I would be amazed and inspired by the works I would see in its pages – now we have all this information at our fingertips.
Since 2020 I have enjoyed writing my regular article Studio Svenja in TEXTILE Fibre Forum magazine, which coincided with my first artist residency and the subsequent creation of my exhibition Algalrhythms. I have been able to share this creative journey with readers, from the initial stages of choosing images to work from, working to create a cohesive body of work for the first time, through to studio disasters, and the process of finding galleries to exhibit the work.
Occasionally I contribute an extra article presenting exhibitions or events.
